Five Grantmaking Institutions Funding Black-Led Justice Work: A Mini Resource List

Philanthropy is shifting and some funders are leading the way by resourcing the bold visions of Black-led organizations. Below are five institutions doing meaningful work to support Black feminist, abolitionist, and social justice movements. These funders are committed to redistributing power and investing in communities that have long been underfunded and overlooked.

1.

Founded by MacKenzie Scott, Yield Giving has redistributed over $17 billion to more than 2,300 nonprofits since 2019. The fund prioritizes unrestricted, trust-based giving and has supported a number of Black-led, community-rooted organizations without requiring lengthy applications or burdensome reporting. Yield Giving represents a new kind of philanthropy…one that centers trust, equity, and generosity.
